Welcome

Pandanus Amaryllifolius

Also known as Pandan, Daun Pandan, Screwpine or Rumpa.

It is a tropical plant often used in Southeast Asian cooking.  Its leaves give off an amazing fragrant scent and are used to add a distinct aroma to rice and curry dishes.

Growing Pandan can sometimes be tricky.  Pandan usually grows in tropical weather and requires plenty of care and attention when growing in non-tropical regions.  In the right conditions, when the plant is well established, it will grow well and spread.

I know that some people trying to grow the Pandan Plant out of its natural environment find it hard to keep it growing strong.

This website contains some info on how to care for your pandan plant, especially for those that are growing their pandan plant in winter or cold environments, how to propagate pandan and how to deal with unwanted pests.

Please leave a comments to share your experience in growing pandan.

Hi, I need help with my pandan plant. I took  my potted plant outside to the full sun and after a week all the leaves turn pale and unhealthy.  Can I revive the leaves their jade green color? Please advise. Thanks.

Hi, it could be due to many reasons. Was the weather cold? Over fertilised? During the cold season I tend not to water it much, its kept indoors near a window and I take it out if its sunny.  During summer, I keep it outdoors and watered frequently, if its really hot, I water it quite a bit and sometimes I even let it sit in water.
If you are in the hot season, I would probably recommend to keep it watered, in a partly sunny area, if you are in the cold season, I would probably recommend you keep it dry and in a sunny spot…I hope it helps.

hi,I’m raymond and I planted some pandan leaves in pots, but somehow, the leaves turn yellowish and diminish one by one. I live in Malaysia,so no need to worry about the cold. I’m now taking some stem and putting them in a water container and i can see some young shoots coming out. I spray water on the leaves twice a day, and i water it in the evenings…..is it that i’m putting too much water?
